2/1 Quilt in Progress
Barb has this quilt all scrunched up to sew the borders on. It's pretty big and barely fits on the sewing machine table.
2/2 Marking The Quilt
Getting ready to make it a quilt, and marking where she wants to put stops and starts of the quilting.
2/3 Three Forms of Frozen Water
Here's snow on top, then crystal ice, then solid or glare ice. Had some melting today, and the black pavement absorbs heat quicker, and it stopped in time to retain the snow on top.
2/4 Finally Everything White Again
Had a nice snow overnight, and no wind for once. Good to see the ground covered again also.
2/5 Blue Shadows on White Snow
How does the sun cast blue shadows from gray trees, on white snow?
2/6 Orchid Getting Ready to Bloom
But it's been very slow growing this winter--probably because the temp is low in the house for orchids. Probably will be another week or more before it opens.
2/7 Snow on Snow
We're hitting our stride for snow now. Almost every day some. Tomorrow supplosed to get lots.
2/8 Ceiling Fan
Wasn't feeling very well yesterday and forgot about taking a picture till I was getting ready for bed. Quick got a camera and crawled in bed. I've been wanting to take this picture for a long time as I see it every day.
2/9 More Snow on Snow
Snowing hard all day today. Probably got about 10 inches worth.
2/10 Classic Michigan Winter Scene
Had about 10 more inches of snow yesterday--just to freshen things up. If we need to have winter, this is the way it should look.
2/11 My Favorite Oak Tree - Heavy Burden of Snow
Had about 4 more inches of snow during the early morning last night.
2/12 Something Green - What is It?
I'm getting anxious for Spring and green. So decided to do a whole week or more of green things. This starts out with an unknown.
2/13 This is part of yesterday's green
Taken in a different light. A shaft of sunlight was shining on it on a dark table.
What better place to find green things than the grocery produce section. They look inviting
Locust Tree with Green Lichens
After snow or rain this area of the bark is loaded with lichens that just glow with a light green/yellow color
Green - Batteries
2/18 Texture Tools for Painting
And one is a pretty green. It makes beautiful squares when used as a stamp.
2/19 Green, with Yellow and other colors on Palette
Watercolor palette. The three colors, green, yellow and blue can make a myriad of green colors very easily and quickly.
2/20 Green Parsley on Veggies
Adds a touch of color as well as taste.
2/21 Green Sphagnum Moss
Moss was growing under the snow which has melted quickly the past few days. And looks very healthy also.
2/22 Green Moss and Lichens
At the base of this old tree. Also notice the piece of very old rusty barbed wire going diagonally across the base. Up a little higher it has totally been incorporated in the trunk of the tree. Nice surprise for a chain saw in a few years, or someone walking near the tree.
2/23 Frosty Tomatoes
These big Roma tomatoes were stored in the freezer and in thawing out have become coated with white frost. Also a nice contrast to the previous week's green colors.
2/24 Beautiful Lakeview High School Pool
The Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference finals here. Of course Portage won.
2/25 Warm Sunny Day
Beautiful warm sunny day today. Now long shadows in the woods.
2/26 Frost Crystals on Old Leaf
Perfect conditions last night, and notice the size of the crystals. Morning sun just starting to hit the ground and melt them.
2/27 Trash Can in Auto Dealership
Love reflective surfaces, and especially ones that diffuse the reflection a bit.
2/28 Dried Out Self Fungi
Hadn't had any snow or rain in several days, so they were all dried and shriveled up. Compare with next photo.
